Martin Buttrich – Crash Test

Before setting up shop and co-founding one of the coolest labels on the planet that is Desolat with long time friend Loco Dice in 2007 the man like Martin Buttrich was often sat in the shadows as the hugely talented studio engineer that he is producing for artists as diverse as Bootsy Collins, Depeche Mode, Moloko, Placebo and lets not forget his Azzido Da Bass ‘Dooms Night‘ remix that even propped up the UK top ten. The Martin Buttrich of now is the producer, the composer, the Grammy nominated artist and star in his own right and has released material on such outfits as Poker Flat, Planet E and Cocoon. Crash Test is the result of spending some 15 months locked down in his Hannover studio and the Eleven tracks which completes this long player are testament that he has the ability to converse with his machines and dive deep into the circuitry of a song, it’s a straight up four to the floor album, an organic sequence of shifting moods of minimal house or techno paradigms. The official release party took place recently at Mannheim’s Time Warp festival where Buttrich performed live but for me the party started as soon as this dropped through my letter box. Brilliant!
